The March 2009 meeting of the Association will be held at the Vancouver Hyatt Regency in Vancouver, British Columbia, March 18-20. Shaun Bowler, University of California, Riverside is serving as Program Chair for this meeting. Local Arrangements Co-Chair is Allan Tupper, University of British Columbia. Recipients of 2008 WPSA Awards
The following WPSA awards were presented by the Association at the 2008 Annual Meeting held in San Diego, California.
The Pi Sigma Alpha Award for the best paper given at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the WPSA was awarded to Patricia Strach, SUNY Albany; and Kathleen Sullivan, Ohio University for their paper: "Beyond the State: Governance, Status, and Welfare Provision in the United States."
The Dissertation Award was given to Dr. Joseph Wright, for his Dissertation: "Political Regimes and Foreign Aid: How Aid Affects Growth and Democratization" completed at the University of California, Los Angeles.
The Betty Nesvold Award for the best paper on Women and Politics was given to Professor Lori Marso, Union College, for her paper: "Feminism's Quest for Common Desires."
The award for the best paper on Latina/Latino Politics was given to: Michael S. Rocca, Gabriel R. Sanchez, and Jason L. Morin,...
