There was a time in the not-sodistant past when the only makeup options for vegans were either stick with the local health food store's limited selection in neutral tones (guaranteed to leave you looking like Earth Mother), or go mainstream with Bonne Bell, which-while ahead of its time on the cruelty-free front-was still old-fashioned in its offerings.
Fortunately times have changed, and Urban Decay's huge variety of ultrahip products proves it. The line carries the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics' logo, alerting caring shoppers to its crueltyfree status.
I would have loved the makeup's irreverent product names, dare-to-benoticed colors, and cool, techno packaging during high school. Funky colored nail polish from the dime store flaked off before first period, and the only daring makeup I could find was blue shimmer eyeshadow Urban Decay's long-lasting nail enamel and the slew of other beauty items unfortunately came out after I could get detention for wearing the stuff.
