SAIC Subsumes RW Beck
Scientific Applications International Corp. will buy R. W. Beck, a Seattle-operated energy, infrastructure and engineering consultancy. The deal includes disaster management and preparedness teams, Beck Disaster Recovery Inc.
Buying Beck's environmental consultants provides additional competency and hundreds of engineers, economists and analysts to concentrate on water-related issues as well, something that could position the listed engineering and infrastructure consultancy to take advantage of business opportunities afforded by Obama administration objectives, said a Cowen & Co./ note posted at Thomson Analytics.
An analyst note from Cowen & Co. found on Thomson One Analytics estimated that both units "have revenues of over $1 OO million with combined EBIT margins near SAI's 8 percent." Cowen analysts also guessed that SAIC paid around 8x Ebitdaforthe assets. The deal is expected to close in August.
