The purposes of this book as presented in its preface are: (a) to examine the theories and basic philosophies of Alfred Adler and some of his more prominent followers, and (b) to further the understanding of Adlerian theory and its influences on modern counseling practices as we pass into a new millennium. Some of the students whose work is blended with Grey's own understanding of applied Adlerian theory include Lydia Sicher, Rudolf Dreikurs, and the French developmental child psychologist Jean Piaget. This work clearly accomplishes its intended purposes.
The book is composed of thirteen chapters, plus an epilogue, bibliography and index. Chapter one describes how Adler was one of the most influential persons of this century in regards to human behavior theory.
