Nagpur: With students showing their back to the engineering courses due to unavailability of jobs and exorbitant fees, the colleges offering degrees and diploma courses are being forced to shut their operations. On Tuesday, Nagpur University's Academic Council approved proposals of as many as five such colleges to close their establishments due to shortage of students.
Two more colleges - Shikshan Mahavidyalaya from Katol and Wainganga Institute of Advance Studies at Sakoli in Bhandara - received nod to close their operations. The proposals of seven other engineering colleges, which applied for closure of their branches on account of poor response, were also approved in the meeting.
