"When I was in high school the only thing that mattered to me was basketball. My team won an all-state championship and I was going to go on and be a coach," remembers Carol Snell, now chairwoman of application service provider Nuasis Corp.
An introduction to computer science in college changed everything. But even today she says she'd play basketball professionally if she could start over.
Ms. Snell was one of the founders of Aspect Communications in 1985. She was instrumental in a number of other startups - including mentoring small companies for nine years at Octel and running a large division.
Health problems forced Ms. Snell to call a time out. She and her partner slowed down and took a five-week RV trip...
