for the value-conscious buyer
The opportunity to test drive the Cavalier couldn't have come at a better time. Within the next few months I hope to purchase a new car, and the Cavalier is one of the vehicles I've been considering.
My test car was a four-door, cayenne-red metallic LS Sedan with neutral sport-cloth interior. Cruise control, variable-intermittent wipers, and theater lighting are standard, as are the tilt steering wheel, reclining front bucket seats with adjustable head restraints, four-way seat adjusters, and adjustable safetybelt guide loops. Optional equipment on the test vehicle included power windows, mirrors, and door locks, remote keyless entry, and a "zoned" rear-window defogger.
The interior is roomy enough for a family of four, but anyone over 6-ft tall may think twice before buying. I gave my 6-ft, 2-in.-tall neighbor a ride and he had to move the passenger seat all the way back. While this gave ample room for his legs, it cut into the leg room for rear-seat passengers.
