We all know that education is the key to prevention. Prevention reduces the risk of danger and fosters a safe environment for citizens in their communities. Family and Consumer Sciences and health teachers play a pivotal role in helping schools be drug-free. They teach social and conflict resolution skills, stress management, decisionmaking and goal-setting. They provide opportunities for students to develop stronger self-esteem, all of which help students achieve a greater sense of maturity.
Here are a few activities you can do in Family and Consumer Sciences and health classes to help students overcome the temptation to abuse substances:
