The New Sotheby's Wine Encyclopedia, subtitled on the cover "A Comprehensive Reference Guide to the Wines of the World," is just that. Stevenson's stated purpose is ". . . to provide a beautifully illustrated book that is evocative of each winemaking region, to cram it with information, and to do this in a userfriendly format that does not interrupt the flow of text and thus appeal to the novice and expert alike."
