Abstract

Moving beyond the role of information technology in communication and collaboration - technologies we usually associate with virtual work such as e-mail and phone - Aneesh examines the role of the software code itself in shaping the work structure. Chapter 3, Body Shopping, provides a window on the practice of bodyshopping or physical transfer of programmers and sets up a useful contrast with the core contribution of the book and helps us understand the overall nature of global software programming work and industry.
