It is the government's intention that all public services will be online by 2005. This aim, as we know, includes public libraries and library staff are increasingly being expected to take on the new role of mediator between client and Internet technology as access becomes more widespread. This book addresses the real need for a clear and informative guide to the Internet for library staff, many of whom have limited experience of the vast resources it has to offer. It is not a technical manual nor an in-depth analysis of the Internet but as a beginner's guide and a source of useful web sites it has great strengths.
