Moby Dick meets "Field of Dreams" and "Apollo 13" in the Internet's version of startup venture sagas, playing daily on a PC near you. The latest wrinkle comes via reports in September that startup Inquiry.com closed its doors after failing to raise the $20 million that it needed by the end of the week to stay afloat in the sea of big whales in the Web space. San Mateo, Calif.-based Inquiry.com made products for advanced searching on the Web. The general news media picked up on the company's news and blared headlines as if suddenly the whole Internet startup realm was in trouble. Hardly. More than $600 million poured into Internet startups in the second quarter, according to Coopers SW Lybrand.
