Abstract
In IR-2003-77 the IRS announced that businesses can now almost instantly obtain their employer identification numbers (EIN) directly from its website. After completing an online application form, the business will be issued an EIN that can be used immediately. This online process eliminates the need to send paperwork to the IRS, as well as the delay in issuing a number that may result from an incomplete paper application form
