Germany's Kraft Jacobs Suchard, a Philip Morris subsidiary, plans to increase sales revenue of its chocolate division this year. "We will reach 1 billion marks this year in the chocolate division," says Rolf Sauerbier, company spokesman. Last year, the Suchard confectionery division achieved 915 million marks in sales. Sales to date of the division has been significantly higher than at this time last year, says Sauerbier. To raise sales, the company will introduce new chocolate products, pralines, and flavors this year. "There are a lot of new products so we are quite sure to increase our turnover," says Sauerbier. "We expect we'll have growth, but by how much exactly, it's hard to say." In Germany, Suchard is the second leading producer in the confectionery market. "Germany is a small market, so to grow you have to have a lot of new innovations and new products," adds Sauerbier.
