Aiming to mine a profit center Zenith's accessory division is expanding.The division plans to catapult from marketing about 60 different products (as of May 1998) to presenting CES attendees with over 400 SKUs in a wider scope of product categories and then grow even larger during the year ahead. "To be serious in the accessory business, you have to cover all the categories:' said Len Coakley, vice president of Zenith's accessories division. Zenith is packaging accessories in three ways: the basic package, a step-up home theater package with higher end connectors and cabling and, finally, a digital accessory line that will include items such as optical cables and seven-device remote controls. Gone is the Allegro brand used for Zenith remotes. From now on, it's "Zenith" all the way.
