Jabil Circuit Inc., which employs nearly 700 at its Meridian plant, has confirmed that it plans to more than double its production space and work force with a 98,000-square-foot addition, to be built this year.
The existing 176,000-square-foot plant, into which Jabil moved its Idaho operations in January, includes about 75,000 square feet of production space, in which the contractor manufacturer assembles circuit-board modules for high-tech customers, notably Hewlett-Packard Co.
"We're moving forward with this plan as rapidly as possible," said Randy Delta, senior director of operations at the Idaho plant. "We've already started the permitting process," he said, although "the drawings are still under review."
A company spokesman said construction was expected to begin in July and be finished by the end of the year.
