Two Ballet Idaho dancers plant to step into the downtown Boise food service market in June by launching the Mosaic Gallery Wine Bar at Fifth and Main streets, next to Cristina's Bakery & Coffee Bar.
The uniquely themed venture will bring together art, wine and food in a combination that business partners Joe Dewey and Eloy Barragan hope will prove a profitable mix.
The 1,300-square- foot space was formerly occupied by Ibrahim's, a restaurant owned by Ibrahim Eded, who owns Aladdin Egyptian Restaurant, 111 Broadway Ave. Eded closed Ibrahim's over a year ago.
Meanwhile, the adjacent Cristina's has changed hands. Dave and Jacqui Tilley purchased Cristina's and companion business Atomic Taco from Tama Boreillo March 20.
The new owners plan a few changes, including adding to Cristina's wholesale bread sales accounts and bringing back bakery's cakes, which were discontinued last year.
Dewey and Barragan signed a lease with Sun Valley-based building owner MorningStar Investments last month and plan an early June opening for the Mosaic Gallery Wine Bar.
The pair have worked as professional dancers for several years and joined Ballet Idaho in the early '90s. Dewey does educational outreach for the company, while Barragan works as part of its artistic staff.
