In a major overhaul of its new retail banking operation in New York, Washington Mutual has created a new division to oversee the bank's relationships with community leaders and regulators, and has named a Dime executive to run it.
The new group is headed by Donna Wilson, the former director of community affairs at Dime Bancorp, which was taken over by WaMu earlier this year. In her new role, Ms. Wilson acts as the bank's senior vice president of external affairs in the Northeast region, overseeing WaMu's community efforts, from tax credit investments to corporate giving, in states from New York to New Hampshire to West Virginia.
