MCI Communications {MCIC} will use ADC Telecommunications' Integrated Access Server (ICX) system as the customer located equipment element (CLE) to terminate voice and data services in its expansion into local service markets. The ICX system supports a wide variety of services, from plain old telephone service (POTS) to integrated services digital network (ISDN), asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) and frame relay. The ADC product also is upgradable to support new services as they emerge. Integrating access services onto a single platform will spare MCI from the heavy investment that is required to build out multiple independent networks. The services available on the ICX system will be transported over T-1 or E-1 circuits.
