TALLAHASSEE, Fla. The Florida Attorney General has opened a civil investigation into sales practices by Germain Toyota of Sarasota following allegations by a former sales manager that the dealership inflated sales records to increase incentive payouts and allocations.
Germain owner Frank Delvecchio said he is cooperating with the state investigation, part of a wider look by the attorney general's office into false sales reporting by Florida car dealers. The practice can cheat new-vehicle buyers out of warranty coverage.
