A fifth of nurses in Scotland had been bullied or harassed in the past year and one in ten of those had resigned from their post as a result, figures show. The study of 367 nurses by RCN Scotland also found that almost a quarter of those who had been bullied attempted to change their working practice to escape the behaviour. RCN Scotland board chair Jane McCready said those bullied were not reporting the problem for fear of being victimised. The results are in line with the NHS Scotland staff opinion survey 2006 which found that 18 percent of workers were bullied in the past year.
