Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Perceived System Knowledge (PSK) and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). Knowledge of the performance evaluation was proposed to influence Performance Evaluation Organizational Justice (OJ) which, in turn, would influence perceptions of Overall OJ. It was posited that positive perceptions of Overall OJ would lead an employee to engage in beneficial OCB. Ninety participants completed measures assessing the target variables. It was expected that Performance Evaluation OJ would mediate the relationship between PSK and Overall OJ and that Overall OJ would mediate the relationship between Performance Evaluation OJ and OCB.

Although there was no support for the mediating relationships, there was support for significant relationships between many of the study's variables, as was also predicted. Regarding Overall OJ, OCB was significantly related to the procedural dimension but not to the distributive dimensions. Possible explanations for this finding were discussed.
