CLARKSBURG--Even though he earned his college degree in petroleum engineering, John Schwager has spent much of the past nine years playing the role of miracle worker in turning around the once financially troubled Alamco Inc.
As the head of the Clarksburg-based oil and natural gas producer, Schwager has directed a company that once was on the verge of filing bankruptcy to one that was ranked by The Oil and Gas Journal as the 143rd largest in the nation.
"He came into Alamco when it was in severe financial difficulties," said Clint Hurt, past president of the Independent Oil and Gas Association (IOGA) of West Virginia. "and he has certainly done an exceptional first-class job in terms of profitability."
