The building that housed the Lobraico Broad Ripple Pharmacy for 65 years has a new tenant.
Chelsea's, a contemporary card and gift store located at 6317 Guilford Ave., will move by June to the Lobraico building at 902 Westfield Blvd., on the corner of Westfield and Guilford. Husband-and-wife co-owners Ellen Morley Matthews and David C. Matthews have a lease with an option to buy the historic two-story building, which was built in 1895 and is reportedly the second-oldest structure in Broad Ripple.
Chelsea's will have 2,300 square feet of retail space in the Lobraico building, doubling its existing 1,000 square feet of space a block south on Guilford Ave. Chelsea's has leased its space for the past six years from Rick Rising-Moore, owner of several Broad Ripple properties.
Rising-Moore, who also bid on the drugstore, says the Lobraico property is a nice piece of Broad Ripple real estate, but "it needs a lot of work," he notes. "That's what dreams are made of, I guess."
