DataChem Inc., a locally based medical technology firm, is entering into two joint-venture agreements with foreign companies that could spell big success abroad for the privately held manufacturer.
Formalized in February, an agreement with Crompton Greaves Ltd. of Bombay, India, will give DataChem an inside track into the Far Eastern market. Pending final documentation, a second deal with JMW Systems Ltd. of Edinburgh, Scotland, will help DataChem crack the European Economic Community prior to 1992.
Under the terms of the Crompton Greaves agreement, the Indian firm will market DataChem's blood analyzer system and clinical reagents in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and other regions of the Far East.
The deal allows DataChem to pair its analyzers, software and disposable chemistry reagents with Crompton Greaves' IBM-compatible computers for distribution throughout southwest Asia and Africa.
The joint venture with Crompton also will provide for some sub-assembly of DataChem's blood warmer product in India, although DataChem already has an agreement with two other companies to distribute the product there.
The blood warmer and the clinical analyzer system are DataChem's two main products....
