The CD industry has a great deal to thank Robert van Eijk for. He has been a key member of the Philips Optical Storage team for almost fifteen years-since its introduction of the first CD-ROM drive in 1984. Subsequently, he has played various roles at Philips, furthering the development of CD-ROM and the introduction of CD-recordable formats. As vice president of strategic alliances and business group marketing for Philips Optical Storage, Robert is responsible for developing business and marketing activities related to CD and DVD platforms in both the PC and consumer electronics environments.
He has made his mark in the industry as a spokesman for re-writable CD-RW and he is currently Philips' chief advocate for the new rewritable DVD+RW format. In his opinion, the most...
