Want to peer into the guts of your personal computer through windows in the shapes of ovals, squares or stars? How about colored wiring, chrome or glitter inside? Or go really wild and add lights that blink to the pulsing of music?
"There's a whole customization scene going on in the computer industry," says John Sandefur, owner of the local Computer Builders Warehouse franchise that opened last week in Hoover, the first in Alabama. Computer Builders Warehouse is a Detroit-area computer manufacturer and retailer with eight stores in four states and plans to expand to three additional states in the next few months.
Sandefur's 2,800-square-foot store is located on Highway 150 about a mile west of the Riverchase Galleria in the Colonial Promenade shopping center. The store includes a retail area where customers can pick out computers and components, and a service laboratory where the customized computers can be assembled.
