For 13 years, Woof Studios owners Jeff and Beth Christie have worked hard on their photography business by going to the dogs ... as well as the cats, goldfish, hamsters, pigs, rabbits, lizards, goats, birds, and their "people."
Woof Studios is on wheels and willing to go on-site to where the animals are. Going mobile most weekends of the year, the Christies take their fifth-wheel travel trailer/ photography studio to animal shelters, veterinary clinics and pet supply stores. They travel to cities from Detroit to Chicago and as far south as Munster, Ind.
Taking "Purrrfect Portraits of Pets" and their families has turned into a family adventure for the whole Christie household. Jeff and Beth are owner/operators, and through the years Jeff has recruited his stepson and daughter as assistants. And their own pets, now numbering seven dogs, a cat and a bird, have even volunteered as subjects in the development of new portrait products, such as the new "Signature Series."
"Jeff figured out how to do this, as well as converting from 35 mm photography to digital about two years ago. He is selftaught and has developed this new line on watercolor paper with results looking like hand-painted masterpieces of pets. He surprised me with these beautiful portraits of our own dogs. We had the 'cobbler's son syndrome' with all these photos around us but none of our own family," said Beth.
