Abstract Currently, rural residential space can't continue to meet the growing demand for tourism receptions because of the development of rural tourism, resulting in the evolution and reconstruction of residential space in rural areas. In the past decade, rural tourism has become the main driving force for industrial transformation and economic growth in rural areas of China. Taking three tourism-oriented villages in Jizhou District, Tianjin, namely Xiaochuanfangyu Village, Dongshuichang Village and Maojiayu Village, as the objects of the research, this paper analyzed the influence of rural tourism on the evolution of rural residential space from the perspectives of the spatial pattern and architectural style at the microscopic scale.

As a spatial carrier for rural residents to live in, rural houses are a kind of space phenomenon. As a result, the spatial issue of rural houses has always been the focus of research on rural settlement geography. The spatial form of rural houses is closely linked to the living needs of farmers. It is an objective reflection of the main current industrial structure and the lifestyle of residents.
With the development of rural tourism in the 1990s, the new rural industrial structure model led by tourism has new requirements for the spatial pattern of rural houses, and the rural residential space with a single function can no longer meet the growing demand for tourism reception and sighting. Therefore, the rural residential space is constantly evolving and updating, including the integration of courtyard layout and the optimization of spatial functions, so as to provide farmers with better production space and create more social communication space, and realize a virtuous cycle between the optimization of rural residential space and the sustainable development of rural tourism111. Based on this, this paper attempted to construct the theoretical framework and mode of the evolution of rural residential space and provide theoretical guidance14 for the formulation of China's rural residential space reform policy by exploring the internal relationship between the evolution of rural residential space and the development of rural tourism from the perspectives of the spatial pattern of rural residential space and the architectural style.
