Although targeted at low-cost consumer applications, the COP8ACC series of 8-bit microcontrollers now incorporate single-slope ADCs capable of 16-bit resolution. The resolution of the ADC block on the MCU chip is programmable through an external capacitor, giving designers the flexibility to trade off resolution and conversion time to achieve the best balance for their applications.
Nominal performance can be achieved at a resolution of 12 bits, which provides an accuracy of 2 LSBs at a conversion rate of 410 Its with a 10-MHz clock. The analog function...
