BOULDER - The old saying goes: East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet. just don't tell that the Westphal West, a digital imaging studio, whose home is in New York but has now come west to open a shop in Boulder.
"Boulder has a creative pulse," said Julie Eberle, an account manager at Westphal West. "The industries in Boulder are on the cutting edge of the up and coming. This community spawns many new ideas, techniques and solutions."'
And the company's Web site professes that "the small-town feel of Boulder provides the perfect setting for building strong client relationships. We our proud to serve this community, and value the relationships we have established."
So East does meet West, and they appear to be getting along famously.
Westphal started in Manhattan 20 years ago specializing in custom imagery. Arty Westphal, the company's founder, wanted to grow the business outside the New York City area.
So during a visit to Colorado to participate in the 1999 Vail 100 Mountain Bike Race, Arty approached Dominick Morone, one of his personal friends he had met on previous visits to Colorado, about opening a studio in Boulder that focused on custom imagery...
