LOUISVILLE - For David Fan, owning a restaurant is all in the family.
Born in Taiwan and raised in Lakewood, the Lakewood High School graduate grew up helping with the various Chinese restaurants his parents worked in when they came to this country.
"They worked for a lot of people in a lot of restaurants," he recalls. When he came to Boulder to attend the University of Colorado, his mother, Joy Fan, in 1990 bought China Gourmet, one of Boulder's perennial favorites. "The whole family helped out," says David Fan, describing his parents as well as his three sisters.
Fan graduated with a degree in computer science and worked in the industry for five years until quitting in 1999. "I always liked the idea of running a business," he explains.
