BOULDER - Scott Roche founded Coupe Studios Music Inc. by sinking $10,000 in personal savings into an unlikely place.
"Our roots were in a 250-foot chicken coop in North Boulder," said Roche, who is now executive producer of the full-service creative audio facility.
Coupe Studios eventually moved out of its chicken coop and into space on Pearl Street. In 1993, the company bought a sound-efficient building at 4780 Sterling Drive, just a few blocks from Foothills Parkway and Valmont Road in Boulder.
The studio works in genres of radio, television, film and new and independent media. Coupe Studios produces music and sound-designs for a wide-ranging clientele in its four-studio building. From the sitcom "Friends" to Web sounds for IBM, the company competes with major sound producing markets in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City, Roche said.
Local talent
About 50 percent of the studio's clients are regional, 40 percent are national and 10 percent are local, Roche said.
