Translation: Sending money to Mexico now costs 20 percent less.
People in the United States can transfer funds to their families in Mexico through Wells Fargo for 20 percent less now that the bank has created a new partnership with Mexican banks BBVA Bancomer and HSBC Mexico.
On july 1 the price to transfer money through a Wells Fargo's InterCuenta Express account decreased from $10 to $8. This account is a way for people to transfer money via ATM, phone, Internet or in person at any Wells Fargo location.
Daniel Ayala, head of San Franciscobased Wells Fargo Cross Border Payments, said when InterCuenta Express was launched in 1995 the bank had a few hundred customers. Today he said the bank has thousands of customers using the account.
The person sending the money pays an flat fee of $8. The money is deposited into an account at Wells Fargo in the United States and is available the next day at a Bancomer or HSBC in Mexico. The largest amount of money a person is allowed to transfer at one time is $3,000. There is no minimum amount of money a person can send.
