I'm a little picky about software. I've been involved in the software-development business, one way or the other, for almost 25 years, and tend to be a little critical.
After decades of software development, user-interface design takes a back seat ... confusing, poorly designed software is the norm. So it's nice to run across a program that is easy to use, that actually does what it's supposed to do and is relatively cheap.
Thus it's a pleasure to give a little boost to GoToMeeting.com, a simple tool for managing online meetings. I've been using it for a number of purposes these days. First, I'm using it to host conference calls with clients: I can display my computer screen on my clients' computers - as many other computers as necessary.
The other attendees will see whatever is on my screen so, for instance, I can show exactly what has been done to their Web sites. And if anyone wants to show me something - something they've seen on a competitor's site, for instance -I can hand off control, so now we can all see that person's computer screen.
Another great use for this system is as a troubleshooting tool Do you have friends, colleagues or clients who call and ask how to fix something on their computers? It s a frustrating exercise to do this blind, suggesting that they...
