A small company with a large product is launching this week out of its offices in Portsmouth, N.H.
Exavera Technologies is actually starting this week by demonstrating its technology at a Florida-based conference called 'Toward an Electronic Patient Record."
Its eShepherd software was designed to facilitate identification and real-time location of personnel, especially in hospitals.
System developers say the system is a secure broadband wireless informationdelivery product designed for health care. It combines a high-speed wi-fi (802.11 a/b/g) network with a family of in elligent bracelets, staff badges and asset tags based on wireless radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.
"There are many mistakes made in hospitals," said Evan Bontemps, CEO of the months-old company. "One study says that between 44,000 and 98,000 people died in the U.S. in one year due to mistakes.
