Web site allows users to stay in loop
BOULDER - Social networking on the Internet is a great way to make friends, find local business professionals and share artwork, but users can end up spending too much time and energy staying in the loop.
Boulder-based Socialthing Inc. has created a Web application-Sodahhingl -that allows users to log in once and access all of their online networks in one location, rather than using multiple Web sites and passwords.
The site, www.socialthing.com, is in a private beta test collecting user feedback before Socialthing! is launched for public use. Matt Galligan, co-founder and chief executive officer, said Socialthingl could be available to the general public by the end of the year.
"Socialthingl is a free Web site that consolidates your online life into one URL," Galligan said. "It allows people to access Facebook, Flickr and other networks by using a single Web interface."
Socialthing's idea earned it the Boulder County Business Report's IQ Award in the Internet/Software: Consumer category.
Galligan founded Socialthing in 2007 with Ben Brightwell, who also serves at the company's chief technology officer.
Socialthingl has many different privacy settings, allowing the user to define which groups can access his or her profile information.
"It is very easy to understand and userfriendly," Galligan said. "We initially came up with the idea because people were experiencing problems maintaining their social networks."
