The authors state that this book was written to serve as both a textbook and a handbook in the belief that the time has come to unite university education and industrial practice. The first section, on fundamentals, is comprised of five chapters. Chapter I is an introduction to catalysis, including some historical background and details on its importance as an industry. Chapter 2 describes catalyst materials, properties, and their preparation, as well as how they are "engineered."
Chapter 3 explains how catalysts are characterized and how the best catalyst is selected for a given process. Everybody would like to know a sure fire way...
