RENOVATION
Lucent Technologies Cafeteria and the Emma Hartman Noyes House Kling Lindquist and Leonard Parker After embracing functionalism with gusto in the 1950s and '6os, many American institutions, perhaps unaware of their own architectural responsibility, neglected their thenfuturistic treasures. But these days masterpieces of mid-century modernism are being rediscovered everywhere and getting the respect they deserve. Two little-known spaces by Finnish architect Eero Saarinen have recently reclaimed their former glory. The path to their rebirth could not have been more different.
