During the past eleven years BASDA has established standards for applications to handle eCommerce, IFRS, VAT and the Euro. The BASDA General Council believes that we should now establish a general standard for managing the development and the supply of application software. This will help customers to identify those companies who are offering a quality assured product and a high level of service to their users.
Leading document management and imaging software author, Version One, has joined with the UK's leading Accounting and ERP software developers to be among the first to sign up to BASDA's new Code of Practice. B ASDA (the Business Application Software Developers Association) introduced the Code of Practice to set quality standards for best practice for UK software suppliers.
BASDA is an international software standards body, representing 250 of the world's leading developers and suppliers of business application software. BASDA members subscribing to the Code of Practice agree to abide by the terms of the code, which covers Product Development, Testing, Quality Assurance, Documentation and Software Support.
Other companies at the special signing ceremony for the new Code of Practice included Agresso, CODA, Exchequer Software, Intuita, Lawson Software, OpenAccounts, and SAP.
"During the past eleven years BASDA has established standards for applications to handle eCommerce, IFRS, VAT and the Euro. The BASDA General Council believes that we should now establish a general standard for managing the development and the supply of application software. This will help customers to identify those companies who are offering a quality assured product and a high level of service to their users. The Dutch Government has recently enacted legislation, which gives them powers to prosecute vendors of business software that does not meet minimum standards. Other governments are watching this move carefully, and could follow suit," said Dennis Keeling, Chief Executive of BASDA.
Tony Bray, Version One's Sales and Marketing Director, added, "We are proud to be amongst the first to sign BASDA's new Code of Practice. This illustrates our commitment to our thousands of clients nationwide, which already includes hundreds of government bodies, half the NHS Trusts and thousands of organisations in the private sector using our range of document management and imaging software."
