The subject of this book, Vincenzo Borghini (1515-1580), is in some ways a relatively minor figure in the cultural life of late sixteenth-century Florence, but as the exhibition devoted to him at the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale in Florence in 2002 and the accompanying catalogue have definitively established, he is a minor figure of some significance.
