Cadbury Adams North America has announced that Gary Scullion has been named senior vice-president and general manager, Canada. He will oversee the Canadian confectionary business, lead the Canadian customer business development team and will be a member of the North American leadership team. Scullion's most recent role was at Frito-Lay U.S. as region vice-president, Northeastern U.S. . . . Capital C won a gold Globe award for best retail account specific or channel marketing activity at the MAA Worldwide Globe Awards in Las Vegas last month. The winning promotion, designed for Dove and held at Wal-Mart Canada Corp. stores, featured "real" people rather than models. Customers were invited to have their photos taken at the Wal-Mart Portrait Studio and the images were then used in media campaigns. The award was picked up by James Fraser, the architect of the program, along with Geoff Craig, vice-president, marketing, Unilever . . . The Marketing Hall of Legends has announced four inductees in the categories of visionary and enabler: Tony Chapman of Capital C; Murray Koffler of Shoppers Drug Mart; lsadore Sharp of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts; and Bill Durnan of Cossette . . . Wallace McCain, chairman of Maple Leaf Foods Inc., has received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 Ontario Lifetime Achievement Award . . . Empire Company Limited, owner of Sobeys Inc., has announced the appointment of eight people to its board of directors. Among the board members are Bill McEwan, CEO, Sobeys and Frank C. Sobey . . . Robert Sawyer, senior vice-president, Quebec division, Metro Inc., is the new chairman of Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors' (CCGD) Quebec regional council. He replaces Robert Cloutier, who occupied the position for over 13 years . . . Hershey Company has named David West as its new CEO. West, who started with the company in 2001 as vice-president of business planning and development, replaces CEO Richard Lenny. West will assume his new post on Dec. 1 ... After 30 years with McCormick & Company Inc. and a decade as its chief executive, Robert J. Lawless, chairman and CEO, has announced his retirement. The Sparks, Md.-based company has announced Alan D. Wilson will be its new president and CEO effective Jan.1 ... Dick Evans has been named CEO of Rio Tinto Alcan, the new company formed through Rio Tinto PLC's takeover of Montreal-based Alcan Inc. . . . Hemp Bliss Organic Hempmilk of Manitoba Harvest has won the Best New Food Product Award at the Natural Products Expo East trade show in Baltimore . . . Nature's Path Organic Foods from Richmond, B.C., has received Canadian Health Food Association's Spotlight Award for the Environment . . . CCGD's 7th Annual Grocery Santa Cause will honour Bob Chapman, Loblaw Companies West Limited. Donations collected from the event will benefit Careforce International. The presentation will be made in Calgary on Dec. 3 at the Rotary House (Log Cabin) on the Stampede Grounds starting at 3:30 p.m. . . . The LIVERight Awards is a new competition from the Canadian Liver Foundation celebrating the most nutritious and delicious offerings from packaged/prepared foods and QSRs. The Overwaitea Group (OFG) has announced five senior appointments. Blendle (Scotty) Scott will become OFG's vice-president, merchandising, succeeding Dan Hudson, who retires on Dec. 31 after 39 years with the company. Scott has 34 years of experience in retail store operations and in merchandising. Keith Blasius, vice-president, Save-On-Foods, will become vice-president, supply chain. He will report directly to the president. Blasius succeeds Bob Mills who also retires on Dec. 31 after more than two decades with the company. Mills played key leadership roles at Associated Grocers, Buy-Low Foods, and G&H Wholesale before joining OFG. Mike Olson will become vice-president, Save-On-Foods, on Jan. 1. With over two decades of experience in retail operations and in merchandising, Olson will be responsible for SaveOn-Foods retail operations in B.C. and Alberta stores . . . Homegrown Ontario, a brand that encourages Ontario consumers to support Ontario and purchase locally produced pork, veal and lamb, was launched as consumers prepared for the Canada Day weekend. Posters, recipe booklets, and other point-of-sale materials began appearing shortly after at small retailers and farmer's markets across the province. Forty-one retailers and 19 processors have signed agreements that will allow them to use the Homegrown Ontario logo to identify Ontario pork, veal and lamb . . . The municipality of La Peche became Quebec's first official Fair Trade town and the second in Canada on Nov. 8. "It means our residents care about making a difference," said Robert Bussiere, mayor of La Peche.
