Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. has chosen Calgary as the location for its inaugural Western Canada store, which will open early next year in the city's Sunridge Mall. KremeKo Inc., the exclusive area developer for the doughnut maker in Canada (excluding British Columbia), will open another seven stores in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan over the next five years, a company spokesperson said. As well, two Krispy Kreme Fresh Shops, an extension of the large-format Hot Doughnut Factory stores, are in the works for downtown Toronto. The convenient, smaller-format stores, which will be the company's first in Canada, will receive fresh doughnuts daily from nearby Hot Doughnut Factory stores in the Toronto suburbs of Richmond Hill and Mississauga.
