Abstract

In 1990, under the leadership of Donald R. McNeil, the National Public Broadcasting Archives began as a cooperative effort among several broadcasting organizations and educational institutions including the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), and National Public Radio (NPR). The first group, the AECT Audiovisual Catalogs, consists of twelve boxes of catalogs from organizations ranging from Academy Films to Your Lesson Plans Filmstrips, Inc. Examples include Films on War and American Neutrality (American Council on Education, 1939), Recommended Phonograph Records for School and Library Use (Capitol/ Angel Records, 1960-1961), and Open the Wide World to Deaf Children (Coronet Films, undated).
