Ted is desperately trying to find someone to buy several pieces of used computer equipment from his company, Connect-T-- Net, a regional Internet service provider (ISP). He has made eight calls in the first few hours of the day, but he's had no luck. He is really starting to feel the heat because it's his second week on the job, and his boss has told him he wants all the used routers out of the office by week's end.
Unfortunately and unknowingly to Ted, this is the beginning of a pattern. One that will become more familiar in the future because his company, like most ISPs, is always in the process of replacing "used" with "new" in the never-ending quest for the latest and greatest technology in an attempt to keep up with the competition.
Although the names are made up, the situation is not. In fact, this situation and many more like this happen daily across the country as people make the transition to new equipment, and at the same time try to offset some of the cost by selling their used equipment. For Ted and all those in similar situations, there's one simple answer and it can be found at www.auction-it.net .
Launched in November 1997 by Affiliated Remarketing Web (ARW), the Auction IT Web site was designed to bring sellers and dealers of used computer equipment together in one place and allow them to complete their transactions in a manner that was efficient and beneficial to both parties.
