Newcomer Biggs plays one of those taciturn, haunted cops who buries himself in his rather grisly work to keep from dwelling on the shortcomings in his personal life. You know how they look: rumpled overcoat, tousled hair, three-day growth of beard. From the beginning, it's apparent that [Jamie Rafn] is employing an edgy narrative technique to tell a familiar story, and for a while, we're more interested in style than substance.
