Abstract
In the recent contributions on university formative research and its application in Ecuadorian Higher Education, the dilemma has arisen that refers to the contradictions between these theoretical underpinnings and the practical manifestations in the teachers to be able to develop the investigative competences, from the own insufficiencies in its training and continuous training, where it is revealed to the formative research as a methodological didactic tool to develop the investigative competences in order to search and self-build the existing knowledge, not as a result of an evaluation process of certain professional skills that guarantees the degree. A strategy is proposed for the training of teachers in the development of research skills in the process of professional training.
