Canon's DZ-3600U is a next-generation document camera that offers some truly unique innovations. And although its $4,995 price tag may initialLy seem steep, it's actually a breakthrough price point for a product whose resolution and clarity rivals that of competing products that cost thousands more.
Like all document cameras, the Canon DZ-3600U uses an arm-mounted video camera to display documents or small objects in real time via an LCD projector, large-screen monitor or other display device. But unlike most document cameras, the DZ-3600U outputs highresolution digital video rather than a traditional analog signal - which means it communicates with your computer without any analog-to-digital conversions.
A new technology for low-cost clarity
To provide high resolution at low cost, the camera uses Canon's proprietary Parallel Plate technology, with which it parses the image into nine equal areas, then progressively scans each area. In essence, this means the DZ-3600U's single CCD chip is abLe to do the work of nine.
There's no doubt...
