FUNDAMENTAL TO ASCD IS OUR CONCERN FOR PEOPLE, BOTH INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY.
* We believe that the individual has intrinsic worth.
* We believe that all people have the ability and the need to learn.
* We believe that all children have a right to safety, love, and learning.
* We believe that a high-quality, public system of education open to all its imperative for society to flourish.

ASCD is committed to becoming a world leader among professional organizations, supporting educators' efforts to develop learning environments in which all learners succeed. Reflecting our best knowledge about learning processes, these environments will be cooperative, interactive, rigorous, and responsive to the needs of diverse learners:
ASCD WILL:
advocate for a clearly defined set of values and beliefs about education
provide a highly respected international forum for dialogue and debate on education issues.
provide information via state-of-the-art formats and technologies that best meet educators' needs.
provide high-quality professional learning experiences for leaders.
influence the pursuit and use of best practices by educators and other policymakers throughout the world.
Our vision is one of educational excellence for all.
GOALS
By the year 2001,
ASCD will mobilize resources to ensure that children in poverty receive a high-quality education.
ASCD will be one of the most influential forces promoting good learning to educational policymakers worldwide.
ASCD will have fully integrated its belief in and commitment to diversity throughout its governance, programs, and affiliations.
