BUILDING UPON THE SUCCESS OF ITS FIRST CERTIFICATION PROGRAM, THE TRANSPORTATION PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION BOARD INC. HAS CONTINUED ITS MISSION TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION PROFESSIONALS WITH OBJECTIVE MEASURES OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE BY EXPANDING ITS OFFERINGS TO INCLUDE THREE ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATIONS.
NOW IN ITS SECOND DECADE, the Transportation Professional Certification Board Inc. (TPCB) has come a long way since it was created in 1996 as an autonomous certification body affiliated with the Institute ofTransportation Engineers (ITE). Since theTPCB administered the first examination for the Professional Traffic Operations Engineer(TM) (PTOE) certification in 1997, more than 1,967 people have obtained the credential.
During that time, the PTOE has become an important discerning factor for traffic operations engineering employment and consultant selection. The TPCB recently received accreditation of the PTOE certification from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), which demonstrates the PTOEs compliance with NCCA's Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs. NCCA accredits certifying programs based on the highest quality standards in professional certification to ensure the programs adhere to modern standards of praaice in the certification industry.

These programs were designed for the technicians, technologists and junior engineers in the transportation engineering community who do not have professional licensure and are seeking a way to demonstrate their skills and experience.
